‘Tis the season for holiday planning
The holidays inspire beloved traditions, and this year consumer priorities indicate more modest, economical celebrations. A recent edition of the Consumer Digest shows when it comes to favorite festive activities, consumers plan to participate in more low-cost traditions this year. The top holiday activities remain gathered around the home. Over 60% of respondents say they will watch holiday movies, 55% will bake holiday treats, and 49% will decorate their home. Even driving around to look at decorations outpaced pricier pursuits like traveling or dining out.
As economic uncertainty persists this holiday season, consumers appear to be applying budget-conscious minimalism to celebrations. When asked about changes compared to last year, the top activity consumers indicated they will do less of is going to restaurants, reinforcing the shift toward low-cost, at-home activities.
